Szeged gained 5th place in the top 100 list

The city of the SZTE (University of Szeged) is again in the toplist: Szeged was ranked 5th in the top 100 list of the international website Trivago. Notable: in the top 10 list of the best university towns Szeged is the only Hungarian one and it came in 8th place.

“Szeged was ranked 5th in the top 100 list of the international website Trivago.” - reports the szeretlekmagyarorszag.hu. This travel website ranks the world's best destinations in terms of giving the best value for money. Mostar tops the list, followed by Novi Sad, Lijang a Chinese city came in third and the Bulgarian Plovdiv got fourth place.

Those cities can appear in this list, where there are at least 50 places of accommodation available for tourists and were rated at least 150 times by consumers. The third aspect is the average hotel price of last year (in this case since November 2013). “Excluding Szeged, there is only one Hungarian city in the list, Siófok which gained 59th place.” - reports the article titled Worthwhile: Hungarian city the 5th best destination of the World on the website szeretlekmagyarorszag.hu

Notable: In December 2014 Szeged secured a place among the 10 best European university towns on the Condé Nast Traveler website. The renowned travel magazine mentions Szeged as being the 8th best university town in Europe and the University of Szeged as the most prestigious university of Hungary.

SZTE Experience

My first impression about Szeged was, that it is „a standard lovely Western city. You can see colourful buildings everywhere; enjoy the sunshine, walk in the nature, study in the bright, high-tech library”. I think this is a perfect place for students where they can experience sparkling culture diversity, enjoy the peacefulness of everyday life, meet a lot of kind and motivating people, enjoy the inspiring academic atmosphere, taste the food not only from Hungary but also from the world. I can call Szeged my second home.

Being awarded the Stipendium Hungaricum scholarship, I came from Lebanon to Szeged. Student life here is astonishing; I simply adore being a student at SZTE. A variety of foreign scholars, and young people have arrived here from all corners of the world. After having finished with academic work at the lab, there is still time for relaxing. The town itself is also impressive – my favourite place is Széchenyi tér.
